UK and Germany Spend Insight Report 28 Mar - 03 Apr

In this week’s report, spend in the UK was up 12% versus 2021 (YoY), and up 4% versus 2019 (Yo3Y). Spend in Germany was up 16% YoY and up 3% Yo3Y. In the UK, Fuel spend remains down vs 2019 as transaction volumes decline, while High St and General Merchandise spend is down YoY. In Germany, Fuel spend is up vs 2019 despite lower transaction volumes. High St and General Merchandise spend is down YoY, but Food & Beverage spend remains resilient.

In this week’s report, spend in the UK was up 12% versus 2021 (YoY), and up 5% versus 2019 (Yo3Y). Spend in Germany was up 12% YoY and up 12% Yo3Y. In the UK, Airline spending has recovered, but Public Transport spend still remains down by a third vs pre-covid levels. In Germany, Airline spend remains strong, above 2019 for three consecutive weeks. However, besides Sporting Goods, few retail categories are seeing positive spend growth in the country.

In this week’s report, spend in the UK was up 11% versus 2021 (YoY), and up 4% versus 2019 (Yo3Y). Spend in Germany was up 16% YoY and up 11% Yo3Y. In the UK, High Street and Clothing & Apparel spend slowed and Food spend increased to near-2019 levels. In Germany, High Street and Clothing & Apparel spend increased after a period of decline. Fast Food spend growth continued, rising to over a fifth higher than 2019 levels.

In this week’s report, spend in the UK was up 10% versus 2021 (YoY), and up 3% versus 2019 (Yo3Y). Spend in Germany was up 15% YoY and up 7% Yo3Y. Rising costs continue to impact Fuel spend, UK transaction volumes have slowed as transaction values have increased (up 26% YoY). Fuel transaction values were up 35% YoY in Germany, but in contrast to the UK transaction volumes did not decline.

In this week’s report, spend in the UK was up 9% versus 2021 (YoY*), and up 9% versus 2020 (Yo2Y**). Spend in Germany was up 14% YoY and up 5% Yo2Y. Rising fuel prices has driven higher transaction values and lower transaction volumes in both countries. In the UK, Food Delivery ‘share of stomach’ has declined vs Q1 2021. In Germany, Airline and Travel & Tourism spend remains positive and share of wallet for Home Retail reverts towards pre-Covid levels.

In this week’s report, spend in the UK was up 8% versus 2021 (YoY), and up 5% versus 2020 (Yo2Y). Spend in Germany was up 18% YoY and up 19% Yo2Y. In the UK, Food spend continues to favour Restaurants while Grocery spend is declining YoY. In Germany, Public Transport spend dramatically improved this week, rising to near pre-Covid levels. Spend at Hardware Stores & Garden Centres continues to decline YoY in both countries.

In this week’s report, spend in the UK was up 13% versus 2021 (YoY), and up 6% versus 2020 (Yo2Y). Spend in Germany was up 20% YoY and 10% Yo2Y. In the UK, Travel and Discretionary Retail spend is leading growth (YoY), while Home Retail spend is lower across most categories. In Germany, Airline spend continues to recover quickly and Transport spend has shown positive momentum. Fast food spend has fallen below 2020 levels in both countries.
